PostSubject: MCD Race Runner ......Angled SHREDSTACK   Sat Mar 20, 2010 1:22 am

got my PHATDAD RC SHREADSTACK
fitted today

sourced from the Baja-Forum Store

an also done some mods to the HPI air filter intake stack

the PhatDad stuff is simply awesomely made, an machined
fits on effortlessly, comes with all new gaskets, an bolts too

there are two types of ShreadStack
an ANGLED, an a NORMAL

they are mainly made for the HPI baja's, an the reason there is an ANGLED version, is to give you more room around the petrol tank, an the air filter, allowing it to work much better
by allowing better air circulation to the filter

with the MCD, this wasnt really a worry
but the angled one works a little better in my eyes, as it gets it closer to the air flow coming in through the front window vents
also on mine i run the MCD servo front guard
so it also gives the advantage, in that it pokes up above that too, again adding to air flow to the filter

i did have to do some cutting of the top of the guard to allow it to clear, but it doesnt affect it doing its job, in covering the servos from muck

ive been running the HPI filter for a while now, an its works faultlessly, i run it with a TGN 'RED NECK' twin stage filter as well as the standard HPI inner

an in the time of me running it, i also did the added air flow 'MOD'
in which you remove 3 of the support legs, from the inner filter holder, to allow extra air flow into the engine

had it like this since i installed it, with no problems at all

the ShreadStack, has the advantage that it feed the air directly into the throat of the carb, much along the same lines as a velocity stack
hence aiding air flow to the engine
rather than the air coming in through the air filter
hitting the back of the filter mount, an then finding its way to the carb throat

so better all around, for the engine

ive also do the mod on the HPI filter support
where the sides are shaped at a slight angle, to match the ShreadStack throat
to again guide the air more directly down the throat of the carb, as it comes in through the filter

here are some pictures of the work
an the finished mounted unit
